IH Aberdeen is looking for host families for our Homestay programme.
Our 'Homestay' programme allows full time students the chance to live with a local person - like you! Our students want to practise their English and get to know the Scottish way of life - and living with a family is a great way of doing exactly that.
You can choose to provide the full homestay experience - dinner, bed and breakfast - or offer a more independent option of bed and breakfast or self catering in your home.
'Host families' come in all shapes and sizes and we're happy to hear from anybody who might be interested. Some of our hosts are famililes with children, some are couples, some are single people. Our hosts range in age from their 20s to their 70s. Some live in flats in the city centre and others in houses with gardens on the outskirts of the city.
All that is required is an interest in other cultures and the ability to give our student a warm welcome and help them enjoy their time in Aberdeen.
There is a diverse range of students studying at IH Aberdeen. Some students looking for homestay can stay for as little 2 weeks and some for over 9 months. They come from all over the world: Europe, South America, Middle East, Asia. Most of our stduents are aged 18 or older, although in some cases we require homestay accomodation for 16-17 year olds.
Ultimately, it's up to you how often you would like to host a student.
Different host families have different requirements. Some hosts like to host all year round and some prefer to only host short-term students a few times a year. Whatever your preferences, we always take this into account and do our best to match the right students to the right host.
If you are interested, please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01224 634006 and we will send you an information pack.
We will arrange to come and visit you to discuss the options and answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to hearing from you!
